What is a community access centre?
It is a place where there is public access to the Internet. Currently, there are more than 160 communities in Newfoundland and Labrador that have community access centres. A typical centre has equipment such as computers, printers, electronic scanners and digital cameras, and is staffed by members of the community. By providing affordable public access to the Internet, a community access centre;

helps people develop their computer skills and learn about the benefits of using information technology;
creates opportunities for people to expand their knowledge and exchange ideas;
provides on-line access to government programs and services;
helps business people enter the world of electronic commerce by using new technology; and
provides access to education and training resources, no matter where you live.
